Working across multiple tenants

You can be a member of more than one Cobalt tenant — for example a production tenant and a separate one for testing, or tenants for different teams or business units. This page explains how to move between them and what to keep in mind. A tenant is your organization’s isolated Tenant. Everything in Cobalt belongs to exactly one tenant, and the boundary is enforced at the data layer — one tenant can never see another’s data.

Each tenant is fully isolated

When you switch tenants, everything changes with it:
  • Agents, their tools, knowledge, and channels
  • Conversations, reporting, and audit logs
  • Members, roles, and invitations
  • Billing, balance, and usage
  • Settings
Nothing is shared between tenants. A change you make in one has no effect on any other.

Switch between tenants

If you belong to two or more tenants, a switcher appears in the console.
1

Open the account menu

Click your name and avatar at the bottom-left of the sidebar.
2

Choose “Switch tenant”

The menu lists Switch tenant (shown only when you belong to more than one tenant) and Sign out.
3

Pick a tenant

A dialog opens listing every tenant you belong to, each with your role in it. Your current tenant is marked with a check. Select another to switch to it.
You can also jump straight to a tenant by visiting its URL directly: /t/<tenant>/ (the tenant’s short name appears in the address bar).

Where you land when you sign in

  • One tenant — you go straight into it.
  • Several tenants — Cobalt takes you to the tenant you used most recently, so you don’t have to choose every time. The tenant picker appears instead when there’s no recent tenant to return to — for example on a brand-new session.
To force the picker, open the switcher and choose Choose a different tenant →.

Join another tenant

You join a tenant by invitation from one of its administrators.
1

An admin invites you

A tenant admin invites your email address from Settings → Team, and assigns the role you’ll have in that tenant.
2

Accept the invitation

The next time you open the console, Cobalt shows a “You’ve been invited” prompt listing your pending invitations. Click Accept to join — no need to hunt for the email.
3

You're in

The new tenant appears in your switcher right away. If you also belong to other tenants, use Continue to my tenant to stay where you are and accept later.
Make sure you accept the invitation while signed in as the same account the invitation was sent to. An invitation sent to one email address can’t be accepted by a different account.

Your role is per-tenant

Roles are scoped to each tenant independently. You might be an admin in one tenant and a member, billing contact, or auditor in another. What you can see and change always reflects your role in the tenant you’re currently viewing — never your role somewhere else. For more on roles and administrator access, see Identity & access.

If your access just changed

When an admin changes your role or adds you to a tenant, the console catches up within a few minutes. To see the change immediately, open the switcher and click ↻ Refresh, or reload the page.

Things to keep in mind

Isolation is absolute

Data never crosses tenants. Visiting a tenant you don’t belong to simply isn’t found.

Billing is separate

Each tenant has its own balance, payment method, and usage. Switching tenants switches the bill.

Check the tenant first

Before making changes, confirm which tenant you’re in — the name shows in the account menu and the URL.

Roles can differ

Being an admin in one tenant doesn’t grant admin anywhere else.
